Ichiban is a 4 year old Shiba Inu pup born on December 17, 2020! He is such a good boy but is unfortunately the result of a backyard breeding incident and has some behavioral issues as a result. Due to the irresponsible breeding, Ichibans father passed down a food reactive personality to Ichiban. He doesn't resort to biting right away and he will let out a series of barks to let you know to back off of his dinner. However, if you don't listen & keep touching his food he will react with a bite. He has only ever bitten someone once & even when he did bite someone it only left a mark. He has never drawn blood or chased someone down to attack them. He reacts strictly out of fear of the unknown. It's recommended that he has an owner who is experienced with dogs, or even better reactive dogs! Once accommodations and consistent training is put in place he is a wonderful boy! Once he trusts you, you are all he can think about! We want to be fully transparent about him and his issue with food as we truly want the best for him & for him to live a good life despite his issues. Even after he is adopted we would still love to keep track of him and we would be available to take him back if his new home ends up not being a good fit. We are available to answer any questions and give any information needed. He truly is a sweet, goofy guy, he just doesn't like people around his food. He has only ever been around our female Shiba Inu so we are not 100% sure how he would react with other dogs, but he does have an incredibly high prey drive so he would need a home with animals larger than him. Small dogs and other small pets would likely activate his prey drive. He has also not been around very young kids but he seems to do just fine with older kids who aren't going to pull or yank on him or dig in his food bowl. We appreciate your interest and hope to find an informed and responsible home for our special boy!
