Kaito will be two years old on January 24, 2025. I raised him until 6 months ago when my daughter got an aggressive cancer. I had to be away from home for long periods of time. So my husband took care of him about 6 months ago. It was difficult for him as he had a stroke and could basically only take him for rides in the car so Kaito's behavior changed from anxiety and not being kept social or ran or actively played with. He started to try to escape and that leaded to him biting two people. This is very devastating that this happened. If someone could adopt him who knows about American Akitas and can retrain him then he will not have to be euthanized as biting is extremely dangerous. He is a very loving playful dog and still is with me and my family but I have to keep him in the house and our backyard. My husband is no longer strong enough to exercise and run him and teach, and train him. Kaito is a good dog it is just unfortunate that our life situations have drastically changed. Kaito may or may not be able to be retrained, but it is my hope that someone out there has the skills and knowledge to retrain him. If not he is too dangerous. This is heartbreaking for the two people he bit and for Kaito and for all of us here.
