COLUMBUS, OHIO. 1.5 Y/O MALE SHEPHERD/MALINOIS MIX (DOB:6/15/23) . His name is ' SCOOBERT'. Background: Was adopted from a shelter as a pup, then that family surrendered him to this Training Facility that is fostering him. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. NOT good with kids. Good with Large Breed SUBMISSIVE dogs, but plays very, very rough. NOT Good with cats. House trained. Crate trained. No known medical issues. VERY HIGH ENERGY. VERY HIGH PREY DRIVE. Currently on AUTHORITY LAMB AND RICE food. Weighs 95 lbs. Good with car rides. Loves: Chewing on Bones and chew toys - training and practicing tricks - going for walks - being outside and smelling all around - playing tug of war - playing fetch - working for treats with puzzles, training, Etc - working and showing off his tricks - butt rubs. Personality: Very intelligent, very playful, very protective and territorial of his people. This poor guy has a hard life just because he is very misunderstood. Another example of inexperienced humans getting this breed and doing more damage than good to them. This is a very high energy, working breed. They need stimulated almost 24/7. They will not be your couch potato. They will act out out of boredom and mentally decline. As stated above, Scoobert was in the shelter as a pup and a family adopted him. Scoobert was not getting the appropriate training and attention that he needed and was getting worse with that family. Their daughter came home after being gone many months, and Scoobert showed aggression towards her when she tried to approach her parents, (which were his People) so they were going to euthanize him. The training facility that was working with Scoobert stepped up and took him in, knowing he did not deserve this, in hopes of finding him a great home with someone experienced that will know how to work with this breed. Scoobert is very possessive/protective / territorial over his people and being on a leash makes this behavior worse. He will lunge and try to bite if anyone approaches his people. A lot of this Behavior is believed to be from Human Error and built up energy from boredom. Scoobert will chew up stuff and be destructive if he is bored or ignored. He is very misunderstood. He is a great boy and will do anything to make his person happy. He loves learning and training. He is extremely intelligent and knows several commands and tricks. His favorite command is 'Center', sitting between your legs. His newest trick is Playing Dead with the finger gun when he hears 'Pew Pew'. He knows many Agility tricks through the Training Facility. He is a big boy and is very intimidating. Again, this is a working dog breed who needs a Breed Experienced person who is home a lot and who has time to work with him. Someone who understands that he is Leash Reactive and possessive of his people. Someone who will be active with an active lifestyle WITH Scoobert to keep him busy, happy and thriving. Scoobert will thrive best in a home with NO kids and NO small animals. A firm, but loving Shepherd Parent. Preferably NO pets at all unless you are Experienced and CONFIDENT that you will be able to work through any situations that may occur. BREED EXPERIENCED IS A MUST!
