Courtesy Posting: CODE RED AT CASTAIC, CA (S CAL)- LOS ANGELES COUNTY ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL- ID #A5661927- 'BARKLEY' 72 HR WARNING 12/5 OF PENDING EUTHANASIA -X URGENT, SHELTER IS FULL; SWEET AND ADOPTABLE 'BARKLEY' MAY BE EUTHANIZED SOON FOR SPACE - GOOD HOME, FOSTER AND OR RESCUE NEEDED ASAP FOR THIS FRIENDLY, ADORABLE BOY. Please help us find a loving home, or foster and or rescue asap for this sweet gentleman the Castaic shelter fondly named Barkley before he is killed. He and possibly his sibling, referred to as Forrest were found as strays, but their owner never came sadly. The shelter estimates both boys are 4 years young and weigh approximately 58 lbs at intake, and were recently neutered. They can be adopted separately. Both dogs are shelter volunteer favorites! Please note the shelter has listed these dogs as chow akita mixes. Based on video and markings, though, we these dogs may be part border collie. We have nice video of them loving being pet, and they are absolutely adorable. See video here: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2003309473429713 The shelter tested Barkley in the playyard and said,' He entered the yard and was social with a female border collie and male pit bull. He exchanged good greetings with both and calmly roamed the yard with them. The border collie attempted to entice play with him. He play bowed and jumped over him, trying to engage in play. Barkley was tolerant of her attempts but did not accept. He continued to roam calmly and exchange good greetings with the other dogs. He came up to the handler on several occasions to solicit affection with an open mouth and soft eyes. He remained social for the rest of his time in the yard. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REC), MEDIUM ENERGY Sadly, though, Barkley is at immediate for euthanasia due to lack of space and high intake. He may be euthanized as early as 12/8! For direct adoption inquiries, please contact the shelter asap by calling (661) 257-3191 and asking for him by ID. However, please ALSO contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with his placement, particularly if you are interested in fostering or fostering to adopt- so we can try to pair you with a rescue to try to save him.
