Courtesy Posting: CODE RED AT CASTAIC, CA (S CAL)- LOS ANGELES COUNTY ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL- ID #A5661926- 'FORREST' 72 HR WARNING 12/5 OF PENDING EUTHANASIA -X URGENT, SHELTER IS FULL; SWEET AND ADOPTABLE 'FORREST' WILL BE EUTHANIZED SOON FOR SPACE - GOOD HOME, FOSTER AND OR RESCUE NEEDED ASAP FOR THIS FRIENDLY, ADORABLE BOY. Please help us find a loving home, or foster and/or rescue asap for this sweet gentleman the Castaic shelter fondly named Forrest before he is killed. He and possibly his sibling, referred to as Barkley were found as strays, but their owner never came sadly. The shelter estimates both boys are 4 years young and weigh approximately 58 lbs, and were recently neutered. They can be adopted separately. Both dogs are shelter volunteer favorites! Please note the shelter has listed these dogs as chow akita mixes. Based on video and markings, though, we these dogs may be part border collie. We have nice video of them loving being pet, and they are absolutely adorable. See video here: https://www.facebook.com/reel/495521572892374 The shelter tested Forrest in the play yard and said,' He entered the yard and was social with all of the dogs who came up to greet him. He exchanged a good greeting with a large male pit bull. He was not comfortable with a young, playful female collie who lingered near his muzzle playfully. He exposed his teeth, warning her for space. His warning was appropriate and respected by the collie. Forrest continued to roam the yard, remaining social with the other dogs. He approached the handler, leaning into his leg, while seeking affection. He was back to his kennel easily. Once in, he turned towards the handler with soft eyes and a loose body, seeking affection and licking his hand. BEHAVIORALLY OK FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION, ADULTS (REQ), CALM DOGS (REQ), MEDIUM ENERGY' Sadly, though, Forrest is at immediate for euthanasia due to lack of space and high intake. He may be euthanized as early as 12/8! For direct adoption inquiries, please contact the shelter asap by calling (661) 257-3191 and asking for him by ID.
