AHFK is located in SE Minnesota, in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Our Adoption fee is $425.00 for a single dog adoption. Poppy has received a partial sponsorship for his adoption fee; His adoption fee is $275.00. All our dogs are completely vetted, 4DX tested, current on vaccinations, *spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting adoption applications for Poppy- OK. Poppy is guesstimate to be approximately 10-12 years young. He was diagnosed in Oklahoma as having a heart murmur and has been prescribed meds; a pill a day for it. Poppy is believed to be a Chihuahua/Terrier mix. Poppy is looking for a home where one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help him acclimate to his new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for Poppy to acclimate to the drastic changes in his life. As a general rule, we state that all of our fosters are not house-trained. We realize that changes in routine and environment causes stress and can lead to accidents. Patience, compassion, positive training is required.
