Pips is a young and healthy Cattle Dog / Border Collie mix, around 50 lbs weight, with blue heeler coloring. When I rescued him in February of 2023, the vet estimated him at 2 years old, making him 3-4 years old now. He was already neutered when I adopted him, and I have kept him up to date on all his vaccines. He takes one capsule of anxiety medication every morning, as recommended by his dog trainers and prescribed by his vet. He's a sweetheart with all kinds of people, extremely eager to please, loves cuddles and head-butts, and very food motivated for easy training. He has typical high energy for the breed and loves to run. He displays protective behavior when friends or family try to hug me or sit too close (barking, sometimes whining or pawing). He was skittish and dog-aggressive initially, but has calmed down significantly with dedicated training. He is now mostly only reactive when leash walking, but his high energy and playful nature can sometimes frighten smaller or older dogs. I have never tried to get him to interact with cats or very small children. (He's fine with school age children in the neighborhood.) He will occasionally display typical heeler nipping behavior when tired or over-excited, almost always on my hands, but has never broken the skin. He is very correctable with a verbal reprimand. I'd love for him to find a permanent home with lots of yard space or a farm to run around, or an active owner that wants to include him in frequent outdoor activities. Available spring of 2025 (no later than April 30), but would transfer him earlier to a good home. Happy to support introductions or test visits at your home, within 2 hours driving distance. Vet records available upon contact.
