SENIOR ROTTIE BOY NEEDS NEW HOME ASAP-HE'S NOT GETTING ALONG WITH THE OTHER MALE DOG IN THE HOUSE CAUSING AN UNLIVABLE SITUATION-ROME NEEDS RESCUE AND/OR ADOPTER NOW TO KEEP HIM SAFE!!! If you can help Rome please email [email protected] and type 'Rome' in the subject line. TRANSPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR A GOOD OUT OF STATE HOME I got this email from a woman who is very distraught because she needs to find a new home for her boy. Please read and get in touch if you can help. This is Rome. He is an 8 year old neutered, Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix. I have had him since he was 6 weeks old. He is like one of my children!!! If you notice in many of his pictures, he has a ball. Balls are his whole life. He would play fetch all day if you let him. Rome was raised with a female Pit Bull, a cat and 3 ducks all in the same house. He has not been around male dogs until recently. I have taken Rome to work with me at 2 different places. A golf course in TN and now a Blind Co. in NC. He has a very loud bark which usually means he wants someone new to pet him!!! He loves people, but sometimes they are afraid of his bark. When I tore my Achilles tendon Rome never left my side and even started sleeping with me. When my Husband passed away Rome was with me 24 hrs. a day. He has been my constant loyal companion when I have been at my lowest. I was very lonely and met a wonderful man who has 3 dogs (one male and two females). When we introduced the dogs it was not pretty. Rome turned into the tasmanian devil. I was shocked to say the least. He had never acted that way before. Rome attacked the male dog. We tried 4 more times, some with a muzzle and some without. However we got the same result!! I decided to hire a trainer because it was important that ALL 4 dogs got a long. Rome is aggressive if the male dog is anywhere near me, his ball, or his food bowl. I contacted several trainers and finally settled on Charisma Johnston of Ready Set Canine. I did not know that would be the biggest mistake of my life. Not only did Rome NOT get any training, but he was tortured, starved (he lost 30 lbs.) and abused. He also has a serious injured rear right foot and leg, and a hole in his left shoulder (which has healed). My dilemma is that I have to re-home Rome now. I will be getting married next year and can't take the chance that Rome might kill my Boyfriend's dog. I want to make sure he is placed with a family that he will be the only dog and that he has a nice big back yard to play in with plenty squeaky balls to play with. He loves going for walks, but not anywhere near cars. We walked every morning around my parents 13 acres before going to work (always on a leash). Rome loves to lay by your feet when you watch TV, loves being brushed, and of course playing with his ball. He is in heaven riding in the back seat of a car with the window rolled down, so he can bark at cows, people, etc. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. If you know of anyone who is looking for a great companion, please get in touch with me. I need to make sure Rome goes to a loving home.
