Courtesy Posting: CODE RED AT REMOTE NEW MEXICO SHELTER - Portales, NM- City of Portales Animal Services - very sweet, gorgeous 1.5 yr, 32 lb female cream Chow 'Coco'- dog tested with male, see video Please help us find an adopter, or foster and rescue asap for beautiful and friendly Coco. She is at a remote, high kill shelter who is full and she may be euthanized for space anytime. Coco was dumped by what appears to be a backyard breeder who described her as the 'sweetest'. Coco may be adopted, but likely needs rescue- and a foster asap! The shelter just contacted us and said, 'She was weighed this morning and weighs 32.8 pounds and is a year and a half old. No known medical issues at this time but she does have some pretty bad matting in her fur that will need to be dealt with. Sadly, 'she came in as an owner surrendered due to some jealousy issues with her older litter mate. She was not the one who had puppies it was the sister who did and since then there had been issues. They said, 'other than that she was the sweetest, we think she was the runt of the litter though'. She is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly if you give her the chance. She does not like going past the barking dogs in their kennels, but once she is past them, she is a ball of fun. Please view the video of her temp test with our big guy 'Scooby'. Being an owner surrender, Coco unfortunately doesn't get much time in the shelter and can be euthanized now any time.
