Say hi to Dutch! This boy is a loving personality who doesn't know a stranger. He will lead with his tongue just to show how much he loves you! He grew up outside until he was surrendered to the shelter along with 40 other dogs. Unfortunately his previous owners bit off a little more than they could chew and he came to the shelter undernourished and heartworm positive. He has put some healthy meat on his bones since we took him out of the shelter but he is unfortunately still due for heartworm treatment. Because of his outdoor upbringing, his puppy personality has not yet fizzled out so he sometimes needs gentle reminders of his polite manners. The shelter reported that he is about 3 years old, but after sensing a bit of 'puppyness', both the vet and us, his fosters, think he is probably closer to just over a year old. However, his indoor manners have improved immensely, as well as his outdoor behavior. He has responded very well to his training (especially if there are treats involved) and is now completely housebroken, crate-trained, walks great on a leash and is developing thresholds. He has never shown any lick of aggression and he absolutely loves all other walks of life (children, adults, other dogs, and likely cats but has not been exposed). He will express his love through play time and very little sense of personal space. He plays hard but this boy also chills hard and becomes a big cuddle bug at the end of the day. This sweetheart is looking for a forever home that can give him all the love and care he deserves!!!
