Hi I'm reaching out for any kind of help re homing a 3 year old fixed male Doberman he was given to us from another family with hopes that our property and country lifestyle would be something he needed. We are dog lovers and have other dogs as well but we are struggling to keep this Doberman (Zeus) happy. We have been trying to adjust our lives to accommodate his needs for the last couple years with no luck in providing him with his needs. We both work and he has to be alone for about 12-16 hrs a day with different days off. He has a large fenced backyard and a doggie door in and out of the house. We really thought he would thrive here but are sadly learning that he requires a different kind of attention that we struggle to offer. Zuse does not like to be alone. He loves his people very deeply. He shares and plays well with the other dogs but demands to be the center of attention with us. Which is hard to be supportive to our other dogs. We really think zuse would be better as an only child or maybe just one other dog. With people that have more dedicated time for him. He requires routine he is sensitive to change and has to be reassured anything is out of routine. He can only be in a kennel for 4-6 hrs, he will break out. When he is unhappy he will get on the counters and chew up dishes, shoes, hats, paperwork and any decorations he can get to. He has peed on the walls and furniture and likes to dig deep holes in the yard. We don't have money for a trainer and we can't be home all the time. We love zuse and he is safe here but we can not let his anxiety keep destroying our house and we think it's best that we search for a better home for him.
