About Tootsie and Buttons

TOOTSIE and BUTTONS are a sweet pair of 9 1/2 year old bonded Yorkie sisters. Their owner had a stroke and they lived in their home alone for six months until they came to us. It was a very traumatizing experience for them and it took them about a week to relax in their foster home. Tootsie weighs 10.10 pounds and her hair is lighter in color. She is the shy one, but she is getting better as she becomes more comfortable in her foster home. Buttons is the smaller of the girls at 8.2 pounds and she is a little darker in coloring. She is the more adventurous of the two! Tootsie and Buttons are definitely bonded. They stick close together but one will go outside without the other occasionally or explore the house while the other naps. They were afraid at first in a new home surrounded by new people but now they come willingly to their foster mom and enjoy getting petted and loved. Tootsie and Buttons are both pretty quiet and calm pups.They were a little hesitant around their small foster fur sibling but now have settled in with her as well and they all go outside together to sniff all over the yard. They did have accidents when they first got to their foster home, we think they didn't get out much in the last 6 months and they have gotten used to pottying inside, but the longer they have been in their foster home the better they have gotten. If they can't get out they will usually use a potty pad, with some occasional accidents still. They listen well and they do not try to run out the door like they did when they first came here. Neither one of them minds a harness and leash and they enjoy riding in the car. At night, they sleep side by side in soft, fuzzy dog beds. TOOTSIE and BUTTONS have been to the vet for a wellness check, are up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, have had 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shots, and are microchipped with lifetime registrations. They each had a dental and Buttons lost quite a few teeth. Tootsie has luxating patellas and a funny little walk. MORE about TOOTSIE and BUTTONS: We do not know how they would be around cats. They have not been around kids since we have had them. Since we do not know how they would be with kids, if there are children in the home they should be older kids who are familiar with small dogs.
