About Bentley

Adoption Fee: $500.00
Poodle
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

BENTLEY is a 2 year old, 9.4 pound miniature Poodle. He was part of a large hoarding case taken in by a rural rescue who needed help with placement. Like the others from that group, he has not been well socialized but wants to be loved on! He is also absolutely gorgeous and is one of our special Angel Dogs. His Angel Fee has already been SPONSORED and will be paid forward to another little dog and rescue who needs some help finding their home! Bentley is a sweet, curious dog who is still cautious around people. He is very motivated by food, walks outside, and snuggles in the big bed after he has warmed up to you. His kisses and snuggles don't come easy, but having to earn them makes them that much sweeter. Though he has warmed up in his foster home, he's still not used to being picked up and shies away from it. His foster family has been working with him on sit and stay and there has been definite improvement. He will jump up on his foster mom to ask for attention or if he is excited to go for a walk. He is more comfortable with his foster mom than his foster dad, but they are working with him on that as well and he's very excited when his foster dad comes home from work! Bentley is good with both dogs and cats and we are looking for a home with a small dog in it so he has a friend. He can be very active at times, playing with other dogs and his toys. For being so small, he can jump really high! At times, Bentley prefers to sit back and just observe the activity at home. He likes to have a safe place where he can retreat when he is feeling overwhelmed, but he does not do well being in a crate or kennel. It gives him a lot of anxiety. Bentley is still working on his housebreaking. He is doing better with a set routine and lots of treats. He is good on a leash after he has warmed up to you, but because he can be skittish we are looking for a home with a fenced yard. In the car, he can be nervous at first, but then sits quietly and calmly until he falls asleep. At night he sleeps in the big bed and usually snuggles on his foster mom and dad's feet or legs. BENTLEY has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. MORE about BENTLEY: He does not like to be closed in a kennel or away from his person. He will anxiously pace back and forth if this happens. We have not had him around kids, but based on his interactions so far he will not do well in a home with children.
