Hello, I am hoping to find an adopter for my father's 3 year old female Akita. He is unable to care for her due to ongoing medical issues. She lives in Petaluma, CA and will be staying with me in Half Moon Bay, CA until we are able to find her a home. He purchased her from a breeder (against my advice) and has had her since she was a puppy. She has been socialized with dogs and does well off-leash. She can sometimes be selective with dogs who are in her face but she is able to redirect when asked. She does excellent on a leash, and doesn't pull at all. Has a great recall when she is off leash. Super friendly with humans and kids. She doesn't have the typical Akita demeanor and isn't protective or selective with humans. She is mellow and overall a great dog. I have volunteered in dog rescue for 15 years, focusing on large breeds and pitbull-type dogs. I understand the work and effort it takes to rehome a dog, and it is so difficult for me to ask this of any rescue. I am unable to keep her because I have two female dogs (german sheppard and a pitty) and two small kids, so our house is packed. My hope is to find her a home where she can get the love, attention, and physical exercise she needs at her age. Please feel free to call for more information 650-922-4629
