Gracie is a Sweet 70 LB Dog that Everyone falls in love with. Her traits are more Pyrenees than Lab, even though she looks like an adorable Cream Lab. She was rescued from San Antonio, TX where there's tons of abandoned dogs, and is living with Foster Mom now. Her forms say 2 years old, but she's really in a puppy stage and may be so for another year. She's very strong, full of energy, and is also extremely sociable with people and other dogs. She loves going to Home Depot where she greets every shopper she can till she wears herself out. She's gone to a Roseburg Winery band event where she was so well-behaved and not bothered by being near the band, just loving being surrounded by so many people. She thrives on going to places where there's people, to the point she may do well as a companion dog, because she can't help herself with the affection of people. She's very good at the dog park and greets dogs there, some times she can be shy about it ,and then with some dogs she wants to play with them, such as a large Wolf Hound she fancied. Being on a ranch, or large property would make use of her protective side, since Pyrenees are Livestock Guardians. She has an excellent horizon-sight, in which things flying, even a 20 ft windsock bother her and she goes into protective mode as that is what her ancestors did in the Pyrenees Mountains to protect the flock. Gracie thrives at the end of one of these long trip days where we've been around people, as if she's done her job well, and she simply is a natural at it. When she sees cars go by where I walk her, she checks each one out as it passes, as she's keeping track of them and where they're off to....just her natural instinct. I believe they have a strong prey drive, as a breed, and that is why I recommend not homing her with cats or small dogs. Her preference is to have a male owner, or in the home. That masculine energy suits her. She has a number of favorite men she sees, even the city lawn mower fella. He stops his large mower to visit with her and she's had a great day ! Being quite strong, I would recommend not to home her with little kids. Gracie has had minimal training and could use more. She is highly responsive to training and loves to follow instruction. She's definitely a purpose-oriented dog and loves to do a task. Having others to look after and keep in her sight, perhaps sheep or goats seems to suit this dog. She is up-to-date with shots, etc. and is spayed. Her supplies, including XL dog crate, coats, etc. will go with her.
