About SAINT

Saint is an older guy at 6 years old and the ladies (female dogs) are obsessed with him while the boys don't understand what all the fuss is about. Like many Malinois that find themselves in the shelter. He's perfected his parkour moves in his kennel. This behavior is off-putting to potential adopters without any experience with working breeds. However, he's easy to leash and instantly chill once he exits the kennel. Where he displays good leash manners when walked through the shelter. No barrier reactivity and remarkably low to mid energy so far. His favorite thing is to hang out with people in the yard or lounge around getting pets. He's managed to charm every single volunteer that has handled him. He even goes on mini pack walks around the immediate neighborhood and does great. We've found him to be treated motivated and he'll sit, down and shake for treats. It would be a straightforward thing to add more things to his resume. He's been in 8 play groups. A summary of his notes is that he's stiff and awkward. Push/pull, gentle/dainty play style. Less tolerant of males and gives sharp corrections. Best with soft females. Most recently noted as a hall monitor and will hall monitor handlers or dogs. He is skinny and continues to lose weight despite extra feedings. Not uncommon for working breeds like Malinois or GSDs in the shelter. We would love to see him go home with someone with Malinois experience. That will do slow introductions with any dog in the home and continue to supervise play.
