Tabby is an 8-year-old American Brittany who's overcome a tough situation. In early 2023, her previous owner took her to the vet for a scratched cornea, but unfortunately, couldn't afford the treatment. This resulted in a worsening of her eye condition. Thankfully, Tabby found a safe haven at BRIT! Our vet determined her condition is likely due to a previous corneal ulceration and rupture that developed into Phthisis Bulbi. Phthisis bulbi (TYE-suhs bul-BEE) is the medical term for an eye after damage causes it to stop working forever. It's also known as end-stage eye and can be caused by a number of things, including: Severe eye injury, Chronic inflammation, Infection, Glaucoma, and Trauma. Unfortunately she is now blind in that eye but she is no longer in pain and her condition is not worsening. Because of this the Vet has determined she does not have to have her eye removed. Don't let her hair loss fool you - it's simply post-clip alopecia (temporary hair loss) that will improve with proper nutrition and regular baths. Beyond her past challenges, Tabby is a sweet and loving girl who deserves a happy, healthy life. We're committed to providing her with the care she needs and finding her a loving forever home.
