About Cooper

Adoption Fee: $500
Boxer mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Cooper was originally adopted from the Humane Society in late 2023. After some time with his adopter, it was determined that he wasn't the best fit for their small apartment due to his size. Cooper was relinquished to HK9s to keep him out of the shelter system, and immediately joined our Train to Home foster program! Since then, Cooper has been bouncing back and forth between boarding & training with us and staying in potential adopter's homes. He is more than ready for a stable future! Cooper is dog- and people-friendly, and loves to play both by himself and with his loved ones. He is PASSIONATE about bones, KONGs, squeaky toys, and ropes, and lights up the room wherever he goes! Cooper is convinced he is nothing but a big lap dog, and does not hesitate to make friends and climb into the lap of anyone who will let him. Food is Cooper's main motivator, however, he loves to perform and will work for all types of rewards - including affection! He is currently walking on a flat collar or slip lead, and is also being trained on an E-Collar for direct communication at off-leash dog parks and hiking trails. He loves to run on a harness and has been going on 10-15 minute runs at around 12mph using an electric scooter to get him tired out when he hasn't received exercise. Cooper's ideal home would be with an active owner or family that can take him on runs, hikes, and beach trips. He loves wandering Lake Murray on a 30-foot long line and exploring fun places like Fiesta Island Dog Park, but he'll also gladly hang out in a crate indoors or stay in your backyard with some toys or a bone while you're away. He would do well with respectful older kids and up and would enjoy living with other friendly dogs. He may not be the best for a home with cats. Cooper is neutered, has a clean bill of health, and is up-to-date on vaccinations, flea & tick prevention, and dewormer. His adoption fee is $500 and includes his crate, bed, toys, food, leash & collar, two FREE training sessions to help him acclimate, AND 25% off all future private sessions.
