Rex is a 37 lb. male border collie mix who loves attention. He is about 1 year old. He is outgoing, affectionate, and high energy. He sticks close to his foster and wants to go everywhere she goes. Rex is well adjusted and curious about the world, not much seems to faze him. He immediately settled into his foster's small farm and gets along with the foster's 12-year-old female border collie. Rex crates easily and quietly and is house-trained. When the foster is not at home, he is in his crate. He is learning some basic commands and to walk calmly on a leash. A lot more work is needed in this area. He can get distracted by squirrels and cats. He is very smart, treat motivated, and eager to please, but has an independent streak, so consistency and a firm hand are important for his training. When he meets new people or other dogs, he jumps up on them, so consistency and firmness is a must. Rex has an abundance of energy and will need lots of exercise, especially time to be off leash. He will do best in a home with lots of space to exercise or with a family that is very active. Once he has romped and played in the pastures, he comes into the house and calms down. He has a high chase instinct; so cats are not recommended. Rex's history with children is unknown. Rex is being fostered in Eugene, OR and his adoption fee is $400.
