About Ike

Ike is a handsome, laid-back gentleman that has found himself at the local public shelter where I volunteer in Greenville, NC. Adoption fees are $135, which includes up-to-date vaccines, microchip, and neuter. **ALL animals must be adopted with a plan in place to be spayed/neutered, whether this is through the vet associated with the shelter (included in adoption fee) or through a contract that adopter will pursue altering with their established vet (no discount on adoption fees for this scenario). This was my description after a day out with Ike: 'From the moment I got Ike out of his kennel for the first time, I was in love. He has such a gentle spirit. Seriously, his presence is so calming. Ike goes through life at a slow pace and it's a reminder for me to slow down and enjoy the simple things. Today, my husband described Ike as an 'old soul' and I can't think of a more perfect description. We were blessed to have a free afternoon, so we took Ike for a Doggy Day Out. After picking up some Chik-fil-A, we headed to a local park. Ike sat so sweetly at our feet while we ate, even after I shared a bit of chicken nugget with him. He never begged, jump, or otherwise let us know he was there at all. Though he didn't meet any kids, he did watch a few toddlers run past without any reaction at all. Ike didn't love the car ride at first. He was a bit anxious and wanted to get up front with us, but was perfectly fine once I sat in the back with him. I think he just hasn't been on many car rides yet. While leaving the shelter, Ike spotted a cat. Based on his reaction to the cat (barking and pulling to get closer), Ike MAY do best in a home with no cats.'
