Hi, my name is Sven and I am 5 years old. I am a shih poo (half mini poodle, half shihtzu) with the cutest underbite ever. I have lived with my current family since I was a puppy. I'm full grown and pretty small, just like my breed. I am a feisty pup that loves to snuggle and follow you all around! I am a very attached pup and like to be close to someone all the time, so a home where I would be left alone for hours every single day wouldn't be ideal (unless there is another dog friend who would keep me company - I did fine alone when my brother was still alive). I do fine when left alone here and there for a few hours, but I may whine or bark. I have not been crate trained, but am used to a small space in a narrow hallway being made into a 'crate' type space utilizing a baby gate, so I may do okay in a crate (but I will whine). I have been around another very large (150lbs) dog for my entire life, and he recently passed away and I am struggling with his passing. I love playing outside, going to the dog park, and going on walks on a leash, but I don't like being left in the backyard alone and I will bark and whine if I am left alone without another dog or human to keep me company. Since I am a clingy dog, it may be best for me to have a home with another dog, but as long as my new owner is fine with giving me lots of attention, that isn't required. I also am used to a home with a cat and other small caged animals. VERY IMPORTANT: Sven is a VERY sweet dog, however since our other dog has passed, he has struggled badly and has become aggressive when moved or picked up if he doesn't want to be moved at the moment. He does fine normally, but gets very aggressive if you try to make him do something he does not want to do (for example, if he is laying on a blanket and you try to move him, he will snarl and growl and has started snapping - he also will growl if picked up or moved when he is eating - if he doesn't mind being moved at that moment he is fine being picked up or moved and happy as can be). Since his pup brother passed, he has also started using the bathroom in the home, however he was potty trained previously, so I am confident he can get there again. If we set a puppy pad down, he will pee on it. We have tried different training methods and different things to try and help him through this, but it doesn't seem to be helping. We want him to go to a home either without kids where his aggression won't be a big deal, or to a home where the owner has the knowledge and tools to help him overcome these things. Sven is not neutered and is currently due for his yearly shots. He is up to date on his topical flea and tick meds. He is currently shaved down a bit, as we do every few weeks when his hair starts growing super long (otherwise it will start matting if not kept shorter or brushed very very consistently).
