[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Dug is a very loving dog when given the opportunity! Unfortunately in our current living situation, we cannot provide for all of his needs as he does have a few disabilities that we cannot care for when at work. An ideal owner would be able to spend a mojority of their time with him (or have a lot of company or things to keep him occupied and stimulated) as he is a very anxious and needy dog. He does have attachment issues when it comes to his comfort people, so once he's stuck to you, he's stuck. He will even bark if he knows you are on the other side of the door, he just likes to be accompanied and does not like being alone. It should be noted that he does have bladder issues, or at least he needs to be taken out more than an average dog, as he will urinate and defecate in the house if he is not taken out adequately. He does often urinate many times when being taken out for potty and can be difficult to have him poop outside, which leads him to have his accidents inside. But if he is given a closed off yard that allows him to roam on his own time I can definitely see that not becoming a problem! He has a water intake issue, and when given the opportunity, will continuously drink water until he eventually vomits it all back up. Which is definitely a larger cause for his urine accidents in the house. He is crate trained for the most part, but has a difficult time settling in especially if there are people or dogs moving around him. He has a tendency to bark for long periods of time out of anger of being left in his kennel, and he also has frequent accidents in his cage as well for the same reasons. He much prefers to be allowed to roam, just need to remind that he needs to be taken out frequently to prevent any accidents inside! He has a negative reaction when it comes to lawnmowers specifically, he will pace around the space he was given in attempts to find a way out, and is overall clearly in lots of discomfort and lots of panting due to his anxiety. Dug used to have pretty severe seizers where he would have it even a couple times a week, then to about once a week, and since he was put on medication for the seizers they have not occured in quite some time, he takes 4 pills a day split between his two meals. Other than that, he does well on walks and does enjoy them, but when he is fixated on something he smells or sees he can start to pull, but overall he is not too bad when he's not overstimulated. He can be in a house of cats, more so if they don't bother him too much, he doesn't mind them, but it's a bit iffy with dogs. For the most part he can co-exist with other dogs but once they push too far into his space he can definitely become reactive and snappy. Overall he likes to be pet and touched on his own terms but when he allows it he is very cuddly and he tends to get along with most people. He's very food driven! Even sometimes he can be a bit mouthy/snappy when taking treats so definitely be cautious when doing so, he can bolt to the food once he sees it or once it's been dropped. We love Dug with all of our hearts and wish circumstances were different but we would love even more to see him thrive! He is a wonderful boy, he will just require a lot of patience and attention and even more love! He deserves the proper care to support all of his needs, we just cannot provide for all them anymore.
