Meet Valkyrie! She's a 5 year old spayed female. She turned 5 in July (estimated). She weighs about 137 pounds. I only put mixed breed because she doesn't have any official purebred papers. I've had her since August of 2023. I adopted her from a shelter, and they told me she was there because her original owner had lost their home. Val still has a lot of energy, and likes a lot of attention. She's a very sweet and loving girl to my husband and I. She is very protective of 'her people', so if anyone new comes over, she is a bit aggressive towards them until she gets to know them. She's never bit anyone, just barks at them a lot. She also has food aggression, so I can never feed her near my other dog. She has very bad fence aggression, anytime anyone walks or drives by our yard, she constantly barks and chases them and will not stop or listen to me at all. She's generally not friendly to people she doesn't know, until she barks at them for awhile and gets to smell them, after that she's their best friend. Shelter was unsure if she was ok with cats, and we found out the answer is NO. She has chased and cornered our cat multiple times, not sure what would have happened if I didn't step in. This happens every time she sees the cat. I'm not sure how she acts around children. Those are the only negative things about Val. She is a wonderful companion and good with other dogs. She's all up to date on shots, heart worm meds, and flea/tick meds. She has no medical conditions. The only medicine she gets is Cosequin to help prevent hip/joint issues. She had a surgery in January 2024 to remove 2 bumps the vet was concerned about, turns out they were non cancerous. The adoption fee is $75 and I will be donating it back to the Rescue Me organization. Please let me know if you have any questions or would just like to know more about Valkyrie.
