I%A0was rescued from a high intake Texas shelter recently. I was scheduled to be euthanized. I am around 3 years of age.%A0 One month ago, my prognosis was poor; I was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. My rescue was told to keep me comfortable and find a palliative care or hospice foster.%A0I am Missy, a dog that 'works through the pain'. I push through physical discomfort because my strong bond with people motivates me . The affection I feel for a human companion; and my love for people outweighs my physical pain. My life is ALMOST full. I am looking for a lifetime of love to share.... with my OWN person. Could that be you? Missy has very severe hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. Her knees are bone on bone. Inspite of her hip and knees.... she is a happy, loveable dog and she still gets around well. Surgery is not an option, her knees would also need surgery along with her hips. The pain she would incur with multiple surgeries done at different times was not recommended by our vet. The plan is to keep her on anti-inflammatories, pain meds, and Glucosamine and Chondroitin right now.%A0 We are hoping we will be able to find a foster who can give her the loving care that she never ever had. A quiet home where she can take short walks, sun bathe in the back yard ( she loves that ) , lay on a cozy bed and cuddle with her foster. We are glad we rescued her so that she can experience love and care she has never had in her life. As long as she has a good quality of life we will not euthanize. It's hard to know when that time will come. It could be years or months from now. If you can not be her foster for her lifetime, that's okay. Please just give us time to find another. Missy is a sweet pittie that loves belly rubs. She is a couch potato. She is calm and well behaved, however she also love to play outside. She is housetrained. She gets along well with low key submissive dogs, however because of her condition we are looking for a home with no other animals. She can free roam without getting into things. We will provide all of her medications , food and anything else that she needs. You provide the love. She must have a fenced in yard, and would do best in a home where someone is home more. Although she is good with children, she must go to a home with older children. No other dogs in the home is preferred.%A0. Please put your application in at www.indianasaveadog.com%A0
