Shadow is a friendly, loving, and handsome 4 year old Russian Blue mix cat who wants to be an only child. His original owners surrendered him to Animal Control because he started acting up when they brought a puppy into the house and he reportedly became unmanageable a year later when their human baby arrived. Shadow has been in foster care in the same home [with many other foster cats and kittens] for over a year, and has been easy to care for. He is a good eater and has excellent litter box skills. Shadow has been dealing with diabetes for a couple of years, at first controlled by insulin injections, now by 10mg of glipizide tablets slipped into his morning and evening wet cat food. His veterinarian is optimistic that when he settles into a permanent home with food offerings limited, his diabetes will resolve. Shadow has exhibited a few quirky behaviors, but nothing that meets the threshold of unmanageable: Shadow is a defender of the weak: when his foster mom was medicating kittens and making them squeal, he came up behind her and shredded her bare legs with his nails to make her stop. Lesson: keep his nails trimmed. Shadow does not like everybody. He is very well-behaved with those people he likes, but if somebody rubs him the wrong way and does not take the hint to leave him alone Shadow may nip. Lesson: be alert to vocalizations or a switching tail. He is easily stressed out by loud noise; yelling and arguing, in particular, distress him. Shadow would do best in a quiet home. Who will take a chance on this gorgeous fellow who is dying to be a lap cat?
