About Riley

This classic black and white guy is Riley. He is a Cattle Dog / Border Collie mix who is 3 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. Riley needs a new home due to his person's health. Riley is a smart guy. He knows: Sit, come, stay, down, back up (so you can open the gate), outside (he goes to the door to go outside). He is also house and crate trained. Riley is good with people after a polite introduction. Then he remembers people he knows and is friendly. He has never been around kids and not a fit for kids. He is looking for a quieter home without lots of coming and going. Riley would prefer a home without other dogs. He is 50/50 on whether he is quiet and polite when walking politely past other dogs, so will benefit from a quieter neighborhood. He does best wearing a halter and that helps him be a ton more polite on leash. Riley is great in the car and would be a wonderful adventure partner. Riley will appreciate an owner who provides structure and knows how to manage a dog who can be protective sometimes. When you are Riley's person, he loves attention and will sit next to your chair to be petted. He will also climb on your lap if you let him. When you ask him if he wants a treat, he often answers you, sounding like a muppet, not a regular bark. He is best friend material for someone with a quiet and active lifestyle.
