Big Red was found by his foster dad, blocking traffic on a rainy night. Big Red was very sick and the shelter wouldn't guarantee he wouldn't be euthanized so the fosters didn't leave him. After many trips and tests at the vet Big Red was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis. Some medication, and he's now in good shape! The vet thinks Big Red is a 2-4 year-old shepherd/Queensland mix. He will be neutered before being adopted. Big Red has had a rough start- he is startled at being touched if he's not looking at the person. But, he has never shown aggression towards people even when you catch him off guard. It's quite sad. Probably an owner dumped him because of his illness. Even with his rough past, he is so sweet and absolutely loves people. When he is happy, you can literally see the smile on his face. It's so cute. Big Red is good with the foster's female foster dog, but doesn't particularly like their male dog, possibly because he's not yet neutered or because prednisone can cause moodiness, or a bit of both. He is also good around cats! Cat neutral. Really does not pay them any attention. Big Red is being fostered in Bakersfield.
