About Riyder

I was told when I got him that he was potty trained. He was not. I am having problems with him going #1 & #2 in my home. I work from home and I take him out about every hour. He will start pacing and I bring out and he does do anything. I have tried crating him at night but all that did was keep me up at night. Tried diapers, he took them off. Put pee pads down all over the house, does even use them Riyder was a rescue as his first mom had alcohol/drug problems and the husband kicked her out the house and he was not taking Riyder either. She ended up becoming homeless. They had a five yr old boy and he was good with him. The boy lives with his father. So far most of the dogs that he has encountered, he is pretty good. If a dog gets to hyper for him, he starts growling. If they leave him alone, he is like this good. Riyder has a love/hate relationship my with 18 lb cat, Griz (aka Grizzila). Griz is like that brother that will put his finger next to you and say... I'm not touching you. When he comes across new people he will bark them. I tell people to let him smell you and just pet his head. He only snapped a one person. Apparently she just wanted to pick up even after I told her how to approach him. I made and comment and even the woman's husband made a comment on her approach. When I got him he was 6yrs old. I have had him for about 3 yrs. His potty issues got really worse when in Jun of 2023, I had a massive heart attack and had to have triple bypass. My husband does not know how to relate to animals. Riyder would sit on his recliner foot pedestal, but my husband could not put him onto a leash. So I was in the hospital for 11 days with Riyder just going potty everywhere. His daughter lives 2 1/2 hrs away. He had 2 sisters, but the youngest sister was in hospice due brain cancer and the other sister was helping out with that. We did not tell the one sister what was going on, since she had so much on her plate. I know that is a lot of history and maybe to much. I am at my wits end. I now am dealing with my husband breaking (shattered) his left femur. I am overwhelmed and I am finding I expressing a lot of resentment with Riyder which is just wrong.
