About Bucky

Bucky (short for Buckbeak) is a lovable, female great pyrenees / pit bull mix (70lb) in need of a forever home where she can be the main priority and center of attention! This sweet girl is easy going and eager to please. From lounging at home all day to going on long hikes - whatever you want to do, she will happily follow. She'll tell you when she needs something - a walk, dinner, or most likely just some pets - by placing her paw on your lap or shoulder and giving little chin kisses. Too cute! She always gets excited seeing other dogs on our walks (read: she literally jumps for joy, which often causes some physical challenges for whoever is walking her!). For short, on-leash interactions with other dogs, she's friendly and very playful, but she can be reactive to other dogs beyond brief encounters. As a larger girl with her particular breed mix, she requires more oversight and someone capable of handling her strength. At this time, I'd recommend that she goes into a home without other pets or where there is supervision and plenty of space for another dog (male only) to coexist. Happy to give more details on all this! While she's probably best without other animal siblings, she LOVES humans. She can be a little anxious upon first meeting, but she warms up quickly and really just wants to give and receive all the affection. I haven't had much experience with her around kids, but based on how well she did with the little Halloween trick-or-treaters, she's led me to believe that she would be a loving family dog. She rarely barks, is totally house trained, isn't fussy with food, and responds to basic commands (she's still learning her name, though!). This pup would be so perfect for an experienced, confident, patient, and understanding pet parent seeking an affectionate, loyal, low-maintenance companion. She is so precious. If I didn't already have a needy (...jealous) dog, or if I had more space, I would 100% keep her. Someone please take her from me before I fall more in love with her!
