VOLUNTEERS ALSO SAID HE WAS SO SWEET AND FRIENDLY. SHELTER NOTES STATE HE TOOK TREATS GENTLY TOO. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, AND BEING GIVEN NICE VIDEO 11/7, THE SHELTER CLAIMED HE ACTED DEFENSIVE, AND MADE HIM RESCUE ONLY THE SAME DAY. VIDEOS SHOW OTEHRWISE, AND ALSO NICE W/DOG HE MET. HACHI IS NOW ON DEADLINE FOR 11/12 TO COMMIT OR HE WILL HAVE HIS LIFE TAKEN AWAY. HACHI IS RESCUE ONLY which means he can NOT be adopted from the shelter directly, and WE NEED A CHOW SAVVY FOSTER, FOSTER TO ADOPT AND OR A RESCUE TO SAVE HIM IN TIME. Emergency/soon to be euth listed! We are in urgent need of finding a chow savvy foster and rescue for this stunning and friendly male chow mix, Hachi. He is reported as having NO destructive behaviors. While his owner said he had not been around other dogs, he just met another dog through the kennel fence and seemed rather friendly and relaxed. The owners reported him as 8 years old, but looks even younger, and may very well be since his owners only had him for 1.5 years and may be wrong about age. A volunteer who met him and passed him many times said, 'Every time he came up to me tail wags and licked my hand. Took treats. Loose body.' We have videos of nice interaction with people and the other dog. While he did growl upon intake at staff, and again on 11/7, this is very typical chow behavior, and the shelter even noted it was 'defensive'. But sadly, this wonderful boy is now Rescue only because of it, and on a short deadline. Hachi can only be pulled by a New Hope Partner, and rescues need fosters to save. Shelter states, 'Needs placement with a New Hope Partner who can provide any needed behavioral and post adoption support by close of business 11/12/24. May be at risk for euthanasia 11/13/24 or sooner if warranted.'
