About Lydia

LANCASTER, PA My siblings and are working on clearing my mother's estate. Her guard dog, Lydia an~8yo German shepherd, needs rehabilitation and homed. Lydia was kept alone in a large outdoor area with shade access during the day and penned at night. She is poorly socialized and barks aggressively and jumps when approached. I have not seen/heard of her biting. My brother has been caring for her while living at the estate (he will be leaving 11/21/24). It took several weeks but she is more and more comfortable with him and lets him pet her belly. I think there is hope that she could become more docile and socialized. I've reached out to family and friends but no one is able to dedicate the time needed to rehab/socialize her. Speranza Animal Rescue, Char-Wills, MAGSR, and PSPCA are unable to help and suggested rescueme.org Her rabies vaccine is update. She weighs about 80lbs. Has not been to a vet in several years. My brother will no longer be able to care for her starting 11/21. I'm hoping to find her a loving, patient shelter before then.
