This handsome young man was abandoned in Spring Valley, NV. He was clean and well cared for, however its become clear no one is looking for this sweetheart. It boggles my mind because he is the BEST boy! He is potty trained, loves going for walks and is good on leash, and is great in the car - he jumps right in and lays down calmly. He is the sweetest happiest love bug, and just wants to be everyone's friend. He loves playing with toys and always greets me with full body wags, big smiles, and a toy in his mouth. He is one of the most loving and gentle dogs I've ever met, and I've had many dogs! I'd love to keep him if I could, but I already have 2 large breed dogs and adding a 3rd is too much. He is up for whatever you want to do - he just wants to be a part of the party. He's content to play with squeaky toys or chase ball, go for a long walk or run, or just chill with you on the couch. He's been ok by himself at night sleeping in a kennel, but does not like being alone for long periods and would prefer the opportunity to snuggle 24/7. When he gets excited he jumps around but does not jump on people, so he must have had some training. He knows 'sit' and 'shake' and I am working on teaching him a few more commands. He is very smart and just wants to please, so he's been catching on quick. He's shown no aggression at all, even when challenged by larger or more dominant dogs. He stays happy and upbeat and just wants to play - doesn't let anything phase him. That's why we named him Hicks (Corporal Dwayne Hicks from the Aliens movie)! He has shown a little leash reactivity (barking and pulling towards strange people/dogs) - he is just excited and wants to play - and its usually been easy to redirect his focus without too much effort. He is great off leash at dogs parks with both people and dogs. He lets me touch his face, ears, feet, look at his teeth, get in his 'personal space', and take away his food or toys with zero problems. He has shown some possessive tendencies with his toys or food with other dogs, so if there are other dogs around they should be fed in different areas and group playtimes are best without toys. We estimate that he is about a year old and is currently 50 lbs. He loves to chase, so I think he would be best in a cat-free, small dog-free, and small child-free home. I think he would do very well with other larger dogs with careful introductions, but he would love to be your only baby.
