Free to a Good Home - Life changes and I need to find a good home for my dog Bailey. He's a 5 1/2 year-old yellow Lab Mix (70% lab, 15% Border Collie, 10% Great Pyrenees, and 5% Other). According to his last annual vet visit, he's in perfect health and up to date on all his shots. He's been neutered, gets along with my two cats (not sure about yours), but doesn't like other dogs. We've done training to reduce his reactivity to other dogs, and he's improved, but can still be triggered by unfamiliar dogs, barking, and dogs that get too close. He's 70 lbs. of muscle and very strong! He needs a firm and consistent adult to walk him. He is strong enough to haul an adult off their feet. Allowing a child to walk him is NOT recommended. He hasn't had a lot of experience with children and could easily knock them over. He knows many commands: come, sit, stay, heal, down, leave-it, roll-over, put-it-away (puts his toys back in his crate), wait, stop, and no. He loves laying on the couch and being with people. He's not aggressive except toward other dogs. I have opened his mouth and taken things in and out of it without fear. He has allergies and takes Apoquel for them. He also benefits from taking Bonine when he has to travel in the car. In addition to the dog, his new owner would also acquire his crate, food/water dishes, and dog toys. A home with a fenced-in yard and no other dogs or young children would be best. I want him to be adopted by someone who understands reactive dogs like him and can provide him with the attention and care he needs. Thank you!
