About Yogi

Breed: 3/4 Chinese Shar-Pei 1/4 Black Lab Weight: 37 lbs Age: 4 years Birthday: July 3rd 2020 Kids: No younger than 8, will need to meet your children first. Dogs: needs to be the more dominant dog in a home, gets along with any dogs in public. Will need to meet your dog first. Cats: Loves cats Requirements: Yard, he loves being outside Yogi is a 4 year old Shar pei x lab but has mainly Shar pei traits. He is wary of others at first but will quickly warm up to you and ask for attention. He enjoys being a guardian of the home & longs to be the most dominant dog in a home or an only dog. He loves play wrestling with other dogs that he trusts. Yogi is loyal, sweet, intelligent, and independent. He is overall calm & low maintenance, he just wants to relax and be near his owners. He is potty trained and knows basic commands. He is very affectionate and loves pets, but he appreciates his personal space as well. He doesn't like being picked up, but if he trusts you he will allow it. Rarely will sit or lay in your lap and will opt to just lay next to you or near you. If you were to choose Yogi just know that he will take a bit of time to fully trust you and accept you, this is common for Shar peis! He does like to mark his territory, this is something you would need to be very aware of when he first moves in, especially if other dogs are present. He struggles with kids younger than 6, your children will need to know how to respect a dog and be old enough to understand when he wants his own space. We are rehoming him because he has never been able to adjust to our toddler & we will be continuing to grow our family for the rest of his life. He is constantly under stress as we are trying to keep our toddler away from him, he is as patient as he can be by growling as a warning and running away. He has NEVER bitten anyone or been close, but we worry that constant stress would lead him to feel that he needs to. We just want him to be happy & feel like he can relax in his home and we just have come to the tough decision that we are no longer the best environment for him. I will have a questionnaire for you to fill out if you are interested & we will be interviewing you as well to ensure he goes to the best home possible for him. I plan to be extremely thorough. You will receive a collar, harness, leash, all vaccination records & health records, small bag of dog food & ear cleaner.
