Ripley was rescued from a kill shelter here in WV on July 26, 2024. She is 51% Cattle Dog, and 49% American leopard, Plott, and Coonhound (I had the embark DNA test done and I would send you the results). She was estimated to be 7 months old at the time (so approximately 10 months old now). Sadly, she's too much dog for me at this stage in my life. I live in a small, two-room apartment. I had a heeler before, but adopted as an adult, and I didn't know just how different and how much energy a puppy would be. She's reactive to the door, people coming to the house, people on bikes and the mailman, in addition to wildlife, but is generally calm when she's had enough play and exercise. I have to take her on long walks 4 times/day, in addition to play inside as well (she wouldn't need this if I had access to a decent sized yard). This small apartment just is not the right environment for her and I'm having time issues trying to care for her. She's great with other dogs, and would do really well in a house with another young dog that likes to play. She's a bit skittish around other adults, unless they have a dog with them. I have not seen her with kids, but the ones that she's met she has been fine with. She is fine with cats but she wants to play with them, and our two cats are not into it. She's mostly housebroken, and knows sit, paw and is learning 'stay' and 'down.' She walks well on a leash but will drag you when she sees squirrels or rabbits. She is crate trained and does well in it when I'm out of the house. She'd do really well in a big house, or in a house with a yard. She'll do really well if you want her to do all kinds of tricks - she's super cute and seems super smart and if you have the patience, she'll learn just about anything you want her to. She's just too much for me. She's spayed and is up-to-date with all her shots and her flea/tick/distemper treatment and she has her microchip. I've spent roughly $1000 to date. You'll get her, her cage, harness, multiple leashes (a leather leash and a 'slip lead' style leash) a whole lot of toys and treats/snacks and whatever food I have left at time of rehoming in an animal-proof container. I'm asking a $100 rehoming fee so that I know you're serious about her.
