Meet Benji - A Sweet, Energetic Coon Hound Mix Looking for His Forever Home. Currently located in Howard County, MD. I'm reaching out for help find a new home for Benji, a 6-year-old, 50-pound neutered male coon hound mix. Benji recently came to me after the unexpected passing of my sister, his previous owner. Although I would love to keep him, I have a cat, and Benji's natural hunter instincts make it impossible. About Benji: Benji has a heartwarming, gentle demeanor around people and other dogs. He's affectionate and friendly but has a strong prey drive, so he cannot be in a home with cats or small animals. He's also not recommended for families with small children. While he's been known to have some protectiveness over food, I haven't seen this behavior since he's been with me. Benji is a spirited boy who loves to be active and would thrive with someone who has a big, securely fenced yard where he can run freely. His ideal home is with someone who has the patience and commitment to work with him, particularly on boundaries and training.
