Hello everyone and thank you for adding me to the group. I'm in California. I rescued an abandoned dog on 10/19/24. Witnesses said that they watched a man make her get out of his vehicle in the parking lot of The Pines Resort in Bass Lake California. I work at Bass Lake and I first saw her on 10/15 shortly after I got to work that morning. I was stopped in a driveway and she was about 20 feet away. I called for her to come get in the truck but as soon as I opened the door she took off. I saw her again a couple hours later and that time she was on the side of a 55mph roadway and she was eating roadkill. Throughout the day I watched multiple people try and convince her to go with them to no avail. Over the next 5 days I watched countless people attempt to rescue her. She became somewhat comfortable just living in the parking lot of my workplace. People would bring her food and give her water but she wouldn't go with anyone. On Saturday 10/19 I took my dogs for a run at Bass Lake. While we were there I got a call out for work (I'm a drinking water treatment plant operator) and so I loaded my dogs up and drove to the shop, and there she was in the parking lot again and someone was actively trying to catch her but she wasn't cooperating. I decided to take a chance and see how she would respond to me and my two dogs on leash. She was a little nervous at first but within a minute she decided to socialize with us. We ended up walking around for a while and she started warming up to my dogs and I. When I loaded my dogs into the backseat of my truck the big girl followed them right in. We had a 20 minute drive to get home where I have a fenced yard and we had zero incidents in the backseat of the truck. She is adjusting well with our dogs and the rest of the family but she needs a forever home. If I didn't already have two super needy rescues I would keep her for sure. She is super sweet. My wife made a post about her on a local facebook group for lost and found animals the day I bought her home. It wasn't long until my wife started getting private messages from people who know the person who dumped the dog and that it was no use trying to find her owner because her owner didn't want her. I took her to the vet first thing Monday morning to get her scanned for a microchip but she doesn't have one. She is very sweet but also very active. She will submit to both of my dogs. There have been zero fights. She is smart and likes a lot of engagement. She's only pooped in the house once and that was on the first night we had her. She has urinated in the house a handful of times. She LOVES dog toys and lots of affection. Please help if she sounds like she might be a good fit for you or if you are a foster with more resources than I and can get her into a loving forever home. Doggie details: 8 month old 1/2 king shepherd 1/2 mastiff Current on vaccinations No microchip We've been told that she was named Cinnamon but we call her Brenda Lee. The information on her breed, age, vaccination status were given by the person who abandoned her. Please help spread the word and let's find Brenda a forever family! Thank you for your time!
