About Batu

Batu is an AKC-certified German Shepherd. He is energetic and affectionate, especially toward his favorite person. He generally prefers smaller groups, as he tends to become overly excited in larger gatherings. Structure and routine are very important to him. Batu has been thoroughly trained with and without an e-collar. He reliably follows all basic commands and heels on a loose leash, though he still requires a firm and consistent handler to manage his energy effectively. He can take some time to warm up to new people, so introductions are best done in a controlled environment. Batu hasn't been fully tested around children or other dogs (he does, however, have a strong dislike for cats). With careful, gradual introductions, he may be able to adjust, though this would require patience. Batu experiences social anxiety, which he can overcome with a steady, confident handler. Batu would thrive in a very active home where he can enjoy walks and play regularly. Without sufficient activity, he tends to build up energy, which can make him anxious, although he is rarely destructive. A home with space for him to run would make him very happy. We love Batu very much and want to find a home where he will receive the attention he deserves. Due to changes in our living situation, we're unfortunately unable to meet his needs.
