Rusty is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention. He loves to eat and loves attention! He is really a sweet dog. We adopted him hoping he would learn to be a hunting dog like our other hounds, but Rusty prefers to be a house dog. He is fully potty trained and kennel trained. He is also trained to use an underground electric fence (that's what we have). He does like to jump on people when he first sees you as he gets super excited, but he listens when you tell him 'no' or 'down'. He does fine for nail trims and is a very easy going boy. The main reason we are looking to re-home him is because we want to have another hunting dog but logistically just can't keep Rusty also. Just as a heads up, he does like to chew on things, but if he has his own toys to chew on, he does fine. No anxiety issues and not on any medications aside from flea/tick/hw prevention. What I know about his history is that he was a stray picked up in TN out in the country. I think he was abused somewhat because he tends to shy away and flinch when fast movements occur around him or if you go to pick up an object. He's gotten a lot better but still occasionally shy's away. He has never tried to bite anyone. He was also Erhlichia positive and was treated but will most likely always show up positive on his 4DX tests. No other health issues and is a really solid dog. He is truly great around other dogs, people, and kids (we have 2 kids under the age of 6). We don't have cats so I don't know how he would react around cats, but he may not care since he's so loving. Vaccines and 4DX are up to date, which reflects the $150 re-homing fee to help cover costs. He's currently on flea/tick and hw prevention and has consistently been on prevention year-round. He also has a microchip. Please message if you're interested in adopting Rusty.
