This will be long to explain our situation. These are two of five cats that may need to be rehomed. They were all born to a feral cat in our backyard this spring. We rescued them when the temperatures went over 108 degrees. Out of the five, four are now perfect house cats (indoor only). These two are shy. The black cat (currently nicknamed 'Black') is the one that is the lone holdout. I believe it's a male. He is extremely timid, runs from any unexpected noises and won't let anyone touch him yet. He's coming around very slowly. He will eat out of my hand, but I can't try to pet him or he'll run off. He's not aggressive or anything though. Lately, he's thinking about rubbing up against my legs, but then gets scared. He'll roll around on his back and looks like he wants to be petted, but the second I try to reach out, he runs off. He plays around my chair, doesn't always run off from me walking by anymore. But as soon as he hears my husband, he's gone. I'm sure he'll be a sweet cat when he finally realizes people aren't bad. I believe he needs a quiet household, probably no kids or dogs, and someone patient enough to draw him out of his shell. He is the biggest out of the five (not sure of his weight, but probably around 8 pounds based on what the other ones weigh) has not been to the vet yet, since we can't get close to him to put him in a carrier. The other one, calico/white (currently nicknamed 'Five'), is extremely sweet. She is also still pretty timid, but she loves me now. She'll sit on my lap and purr like crazy. She meows to let me know she wants some attention. She is spayed and got one round of vaccinations. She loves to play with catnip mice and pompoms. She is the smallest of the five. While all five cats are closely bonded, these two spend more time together, so I think it would be in their best interest if they could stay together. We will most likely have to relocate overseas before the end of the year and will not be able to take 5 cats with us. We were just informed that the relocation might even move up to the beginning/middle of November, in which case we won't get the paperwork together for the other three, either, so we might have to rehome them as well. These five are the best cats I've ever had and it breaks my heart to see any of them go, but I'd rather rehome them now than have to take them to a shelter.
