From Shujaa's foster home/owner: 'Please meet Shujaa! (Pronounced Shoo-jah). He is a 7 month old Saluki mix from Qatar, a small desert country in the Middle East. He's a gorgeous boy who was rescued as a tiny puppy and is looking for a home here in Massachusetts. Some info about Shujaa- Shujaa lived in a kennel with his littermates for his entire life. He was clearly well cared for and loved because he's so sweet and loving himself. Because he lived in a kennel, he wasn't housebroken or crate trained but since arriving to the US in late August, he has become both housebroken and crate trained. In fact, he will wake me in the morning for a potty break (he sleeps in his crate here at his foster home) and then hops back into his crate for his breakfast. He gets along with other dogs, he's still learning proper etiquette in play, but he's a puppy, so he's still evolving. He also is fostered with cats and is sometimes interested in them but doesn't chase or bother them. Shujaa is leash trained and learning to walk like a gentleman. He likes kids but he should go to a home with older kids, preferably teens since he is so tall. One other note about Shujaa? He was born mostly blind! Yes, even with all the other facts listed above about him, good with other dogs, good with cats, good with people, walks on a leash and is crate trained. Despite his vision impairment, he has acclimated to everything beautifully. He doesn't bump into things that often, we have a report from an eye doctor that says that he can see shapes, maybe light and dark, some images. We don't know for sure of course but he is incredibly good at managing his surroundings. He's such a smart boy! If you are interested in meeting Shujaa, please email me at [email protected]. I will send you an adoption application and upon approval, can bring Shujaa over to your home, introduce him to your family and other pets, if you have them, and potentially leave him there for two weeks for a trial period. If at the end of the trial period, you would like to adopt, we will fill out his adoption contract. He has an adoption donation of $500. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and has all the paperwork to reflect that. Shujaa can't wait to meet you!' **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
