This dog was found on Sunday, October 13th by a young man who lives on farm nearby. My oldest daughter works there taking care of horses. Due to the cold weather & no place for her to go that night, she brought the dog home with her on Monday, October 14th. The workers who live on the farm couldn't keep her & asked for our help. Despite posting on Facebook, NextDoor, with local veterinarians, shelters & rescues, no one has come forward to claim this pretty girl as their missing pet. Here's what I do know about this sweet girl thus far: * She is not microchipped. (I took her to my vets on Monday, October 15th to be checked.) * She is young. Has 6 month+ puppy teeth & a little tartar. So we think right @ 1 year old. * She is 28 pounds. * She is clean - flea, tick & ear mite free. * She is healthy. * She has a slightly enlarged vulva & no spay scar was seen. She had a simple veterinary exam on Tuesday, October 15th. We DID NOT do any heartworm blood work, a nail trim, vaccinations, etc... We wanted her 1st visit to the vets to be low stress. She was anxious. But very cooperative. No muzzle or anything... * Likely a Cattle Dog/Aussie/Spaniel/Terrier/Heeler mix. Lots of liver colored spots. With brown patches surrounding her ears/eyes. She also has grey merle spots down her neck, scruff & back. * Super human friendly. * House trained. No accidents in our home this last week. No chewing of furniture, etc. Good inside manners. * Good on a leash. She will leap into action to try to chase a squirrel! She is temporarily in my finished basement while we sort things out. We are being very careful with interactions with our other animals as she is a young, playful pup. My older dogs do not seem interested in her advances. She isn't mean... She is determined to play. I don't want to label her as I am no expert, but, I think she would need to be in a house as an only pet or with a young dog with a similar activity level/heritage. We have been leash walking her exclusively. I also think she would do best with a large fenced in yard. (We have an Invisible Fence system that we haven't turned on in years as our pets know their boundaries.) She was someone's pet... Would love to help find her a good, new home.
