Poor Brave already has 2 strikes against him, he is a black Pitbull. With so many other dogs needing homes, we wonder if anyone will take an interest in this innocent dog who wants so badly to bond with someone. We first met Brave when he was in a temporary foster home through the Queens Animal Care Center's Foster Program. He had been in and out of the shelter several times and was headed back again due to behavior issues. When Brave ended up on the At-Risk for euthanasia list due to medical reasons, we could not turn our backs on him, especially after meeting him. We saved his life on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized, even though we were not in a position to take another dog into rescue. Brave has a femoral neck fracture that causes lameness and muscle loss in his back leg. This injury likely resulted from trauma before he was found on the street. Without a proper place for him to recover, we cannot schedule surgery. If you have experience with dogs, food aggression and guarding, and feel you're a good match for Brave, we would really appreciate hearing from you to discuss this further.
