When Mazie came to me in Missoula, Montana, at 8 weeks old, she entered a life that included a two-story house, a large yard, two caregivers and double incomes. Now our life has none of these. She lives in a small apartment today, which is creating boredom and stress for her, although I make sure she has regular exercise, hikes, healthy food. I love her. I am intent on finding her the right home, family and life to support her brilliant dogginess. Like any working dog, this very smart, well trained and active girl needs a bigger life. She needs more than me and more than I can provide right now. I have spent the past two and a half years building in her an excellent foundation of training, obedience, socialization and good health. She will thrive in a young family; with a couple; with a sole active person; with a best-friend dog; alongside other dogs; with easy access to the outdoors; with stimulation, activity and routine. She has been raised alongside cats, too, and knows not to harrass them. Starting when she was 8 weeks old, I have given her classes for socialization, as well as private lessons, positive reinforcement, attention and adventure. She loves Chuckit (no, I mean REALLY loves Chuckit), road trips, hiking, camping, canoing, swimming and food. She loves food. She is a startling fast learner and about 86% obedient with a full understanding of any command. She is loving, curious, silly, playful, loyal, protective, an absolutely spectacular dog. Ecstatic off leash, she interacts with other dogs and communicates excellent boundaries while respecting those in others. On leash she can exhibit wariness and may bark at dogs (and falling leaves, or grasshoppers...). At 2 years and 8 months, she weighs 90 lbs, shows a gorgeous long glossy black and caramel coat (she sheds less than short-hair GS's), sports adorable ear tufts and is in good health, crate trained and used to all sorts of company, including pet sitters. Once she's settled with you, you will have a wonderful, wonderful dog for many years. I look forward to introducing you to Mazie via Zoom. I am happy to answer all your questions. I am able to discuss delivering her or meeting you half way, depending on distance. and I may also be able to supply her metal crate, beds, toys, etc, depending on logistics. She is microchipped, up to date on vaccines, seen regularly by her vet. I'm happy to share her records with you. If you would love to have a German Shepherd, I am quite sure you could not find a better one than Mazie. I never have.
