Ishi ***Bengal Breed Experience Required*** ***Only-Cat Syndrome*** ***Child 12+ with Bengal Experience may be OK*** Ishi is a sweet, beautiful, and regal 5-year-old queen of a Bengal. She has lived in a single family household with a very calm child (pre-teen now), another Bengal (male) and was then introduced to a puppy about 1.5 years ago. Her family ADORES her, but Ishi has become uncomfortable with some of the household changes. Sensibly, with good research and with a lot of behavioral support, they added a male Bengal to the home and they did very well together. Following this, their child really wanted a dog as well, so they welcomed a very calm and very well-behaved puppy into the fold (they flew to the East Coast to get the puppy, so it's not exactly an easy option to return him to the breeder). Unfortunately, Ishi has not adjusted to these changes and the escalation of behavior in the home has been extremely worrisome. Ishi is no longer 'friends' with the male Bengal in the home, and he is now hiding from her, to escape her scolding. Given the escalations, and the family's conundrum(keeping peace seems to be an impossible dream) they believe that she would truly thrive in a home where she is the absolute center of attention. This loving family couldn't have predicted that things would go this way, and they are committed to finding her a home where she will thrive the rest of her days, in an environment of her choosing. We agree with them. Ishi's family reached out to the original cattery for assistance, however they are no longer in business and moved to the East Coast. This is why they reached out to us at Bengal Rescue for assistance. All of that said, we'd love to tell you the many wonderful things about Ishi! Because there is so much to say about this stunning girl. Ishi is the true definition of regal, in the way she carries herself and behaves. She is a 'typical Bengal' in the sense that she loves to 'do what she wants to do.' When she is bonded with you, she wants to be in a room with you, but will choose if / when she wants to cuddle. She loves climbing trees and surveying her world from the top of a climbing tree,%A0perch, shelf or hammock. She is very athletic and loves playing with wands, finding hidden treats, playing in giant boxes, splashing around with running water, and just being an inquisitive cat! She has only been an indoor cat, but can be curious about the outdoors before quickly running back inside. She may be open to walks on a secure harness - we're not sure. Like most Bengals, she allows us to pick her up and carry her around on occasion, but%A0she prefers to move to places / areas at her own pace vs. being a carried accessory.%A0 As far as children go, she has always been great with calm children. She would%A0NOT%A0enjoy being in a household that is too chaotic, loud, being pursued by excessively grabby hands, or being chased. Ishi would do best in a household where she can be the solo queen, as some behavioral issues started to arise when an extremely%A0calm puppy entered the household. Prior to the puppy, she and our male Bengal would run around together, wrestle and cuddle together, but Ishi has become increasingly aggressive with our%A0male Bengal in the past few months and is showing her frustration through unwanted urination at times (Bengal Rescue knows that the occasional urination issues are usually environmental - and when a cat has 'too much going on' in the house - this is often how they demonstrate their discomfort with the situation). Ishi had a full physical in August and there aren't any underlying health issues. She also went to the dentist in September and had a tooth removed. It is recommended that her future Veterinarian check her annually to ensure her overall health and dental health remains good. We truly believe that Ishi would do best in a household as the solo animal and with a person or family who can be patient with her during her transition and understands the physicality / needs / experience with Bengals. She is a real alpha and independent queen!%A0 She really is an amazing cat who is incredibly loved. We will wait for the right family to come. She deserves no less! Ishi has been fully vetted throughout her life. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and has good litter box skills, overall. She is currently eating freeze dried raw food and would definitely do well on a raw food diet.
