About Red

2024 RC 'Red' 1/17/24 9 m.o. red-tick coonhound mix; intact female. Rescued from a box in the local Walmart parking lot at 6 weeks of age. Up to date on shots and has been taking flea/tick meds. Looking for a loving home - she would be an amazing farm dog or hunting companion. She is sweet, friendly, affectionate, and playful. She is great with dogs and kids big and small. She is well-behaved with her training collar, even only on the beep setting. She is very smart and quick to learn. She is very much food driven. She'll sleep in a crate, but she's just as happy patrolling the yard at night. She is highly curious and always on the move. She walks pretty well on a lead with a pinch collar (pinch, leash, and reflective collar will come with her), and rides well in the car. She'll chase small critters if she isn't wearing her training collar, but will behave and lay down and let them wander around her when it's on (cats & chickens). She can be destructive if left unattended for long periods. Her favorite toys are tires, ropes, and logs she can shred or disassemble. She'll also dig and has caught several gophers and moles, and she's cornered several large possums who try to get into our henhouse at night. She'll bay to let us know she's caught something. She has a lot of energy and needs to run and work. She's got basic commands down, and will take to training well. Good health/no problems.
