BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1 Name: BUDDY BAILEY Breed: Lab mix Age: 8 years old (45#) Sex: Male (Neutered) Location: Santa Clara County, CA Vet Info: Blind Dog. UTD on vaccines. HW positive and being treated. Owner reports: Buddy Bailey's owner is ill and can no longer take care of him. Several neighbors are helping to care for Buddy but none of them are able to take him long term. We are told: 'Buddy is a really sweet dog who has lived most of his life outside in his fence, sleeping inside. He had limited exposure to other people, other dogs, and the outside world while living with his owner. He is doing great considering all he has been through and his health challenges.' Buddy Bailey is an outdoor dog with a fenced yard. He is reported to be house broken and leash trained. It is reported that he can come and sit. Buddy Bailey is reported to be good with adults and children of all ages and female dogs. They tell us: 'Buddy has adapted well to the neighbors caring for him. We visit him several times a day, including putting him inside in the evening, letting him out in the morning, feeding him in AM and PM. Buddy plays well with a neighborhood dog for added activity. He has also adapted to walking on a leash/harness - his owner never walked him or fed him properly.' 'Buddy has cataracts in both eyes and may be able to detect some light/motion in one eye. We have started Buddy on a heartworm treatment plan including heartworm preventative. He is currently taking antibiotics and steroids and will have a chest x-ray in the coming days to determine how to proceed with further treatment. Buddy has been asymptomatic and the HW positive test was because we took him to the vet, which was the first time since he was adopted. He is now eating healthy food and doing well.' Can anyone help sweet Buddy Bailey? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them. These dogs are with their owners, and are not in BDRA foster homes. We do our best to screen these dogs, but make no guarantees regarding the information posted.** Please email [email protected] if you are interested in this sweetheart. Please know that we will ask for a vet reference.
