About River

River is a very smart and loving companion! Her favorite activities include hanging around her people, chasing squirrels, long walks in less populated areas, splashing around in a kiddie pool, learning new tricks, and food! She loves to play with small toys with squeakers and loves running zoomies around large grassy spaces. She's always excited to greet her people every day, and loves sharing a bed or couch as long as she has her space. She cuddles on her terms, like a cat, and prefers to spend most of her time nearby but with a personal bubble. She was raised with cats and respects the claws, but will also chase them every time she gets excited. She spent some of her formative years with young children, but as she's gotten older she would do best with kids old enough to respect her space. River is nervous around new people, she will bark and growl if someone approaches too quickly, but once she warms up to someone, she's a friend for life. She dislikes most dogs, and will let you know every time you encounter one in the neighborhood. She has had dog friends before, and you may have some success introducing her very slowly to dogs that would prefer to be relaxed and simply coexist. River has also developed a fear of urban noises (doors slamming, people yelling, loud popping like cars backfiring, etc.) after living in a small apartment for many year. She is currently on behavior medications to help manage the stress this causes her. She would do best in a house with a yard, and with an owner with a lot of patience and time to dedicate to helping her feel safe.
