About Charlene

American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Charlene is a low-energy, gentle, and calm female dog. This charming girl gives non-stop kisses and adores cuddles, making her the perfect companion for anyone seeking a loyal friend. This well-mannered lady walks well on a leash with no pulling and knows how to sit, taking treats gently. While Charlene is not a fan of cats, and is labeled as 'no dogs' for her safety, she has shown great composure walking through the park, calmly passing other dogs without a fuss. She doesn't bark much, she prefers to communicate her love through nudges and tail wags. She is such a wonderful dog, and has been waiting patiently for the right person to come along and give her all the love that she deserves. Charlene had a chance to have a short break away from the shelter for a few weeks where we were able to learn more about how she does in a home setting. She is an angel with her humans, crate & potty trained, quiet in the house, and loves to go for her walks and cuddle afterwards. She is a pro at coming when called and is calm and quiet on car rides. She also prefers chewy treats over toys and will always choose ham sandwiches over turkey! The shelter environment can be a little too loud for her taste, giving her a sweet timid look. She find comfort when volunteers sit with her and she proves that you're never too big to be a lap dog. In the home environment, she will just need a few days to decompress and then her true, wonderful personality will start to flourish. Come visit Charlene and discover the love and happiness she can bring into your life! She is at risk for euthanasia because the county shelter is full. Please consider her adopting this sweet girl! Charlene has heartworms but it's treatable and not contagious. To help with the medical cost, a $1,000!!! sponsorship for treatment is provided by Friends of Wake County Animal Center. She is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and is already spayed.
