About Stanley

Adoption Fee: $475
Pit Bull / Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Stanley, 1.5 years old, neutered male, Pitbull Terrier/Retriever mix, 45 pounds. Stanley is in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Stanley is a playful and energetic guy! He shares a home with another dog. He has also gone to stay at one of our boarders when his foster is out of town. He has met so many new dogs on those visits. He has met dogs big, small, different breeds, all ages and both genders. He is playful by nature, which we would expect given he is a young guy with lots of life. You will find this guy running with the pack, greeting new dogs and having the best time. Stanley has been around a few kids (ages 5-12y) with other temporary fosters while his Main Foster Mom has been out of town. The feedback has been positive but that he takes longer to warm up to men/boys. No matter the age of kid, we typically advise homes with kids who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. We have no history with cats. Stanley is mild-mannered on the leash and walks calmly but does pull. His foster mom is working with him on this but his new family may find that a harness or Gentle Leader head collar work better to manage his pulling. Stanley is fully house and kennel trained. He's proven trustworthy while in the house unsupervised (he's non-destructive and doesn't have accidents). He is crated for longer periods of time and does great. All dogs are fed separately as a rule of his Foster but she notes there have been no signs of aggression or resource guarding when another dog sniffs at his food while he's eating. He has no issues sharing toys, treats or bones and shows only moderate interest in people food. Stanley is active and loves to get his energy out, and would be best served with a yard of his own. He currently spends a lot of time in the backyard playing with the other dogs and/or would enjoy some dedicated play time. He enjoys walks and runs, playing ball, and having something to chew on. He doesn't need to have another dog in the house but it would be helpful, especially one of similar age and size. He's silly and goofy and an embodiment of the pittie personality (cuddly and affectionate especially at bedtime, dramatic and vocal, energetic and athletic). He loves water and will try getting into the shower or bath, even though the water is hot. He would thrive with a breed experienced adopter who is willing to pour time and attention into him, training and teaching him good manners. He would enjoy being a running partner and going on active adventures. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
